Maybe that will change on November 8 …
October 19 |Daily Record | UPPER COUNTY ~
Voters in Upper Kittitas County will decide this fall whether to create an Upper Kittitas County port district.
Backers say the measure, Proposition 1 on the ballot, will provide a much needed economic engine to stimulate economic development, stabilize the area economy and bring steady, secure, good-paying jobs to the area.
They point to success in other areas of the state that have created port districts. Kittitas County is one of only six counties out of Washington’s 39 counties that does not have a port district.
Opponents say a port district adds additional taxes and more government and there are better ways to stimulate the economy and bring new businesses and jobs into the area.
Proposition 1 needs a simple majority, 50 percent voter approval plus at least one vote, to pass. (MORE)
